Queen
Mary University of London is putting on an exhibition of art and stories to
share people’s experience of the Covid-19 pandemic as part of Being Human
Festival. The theme for Being Human Festival 2020 is 'New Worlds'; this
exhibition aims to bring people together, to share people's experiences of
Covid-19, to understand how we can live in this new world with Covid-19.
The exhibition will feature visual art
and creative writing that represents people's experience of the Covid-19
pandemic. This is not exclusive to the experience of having Covid-19 but may
also include the social implications, such as lockdown, social distancing, and
wearing masks. We’re looking for art that captures the varied experiences of
Covid-19 in the hope of bringing people together to share their experiences.
We are also interested in art that
represents experiences of caring for people during the pandemic, which could be
as a healthcare professional or as a friendly volunteer.
This event is part of the national
Being Human festival of the humanities, which is taking place in over 50 towns
and cities across the UK between 12-22 November.
Being Human is the only national
festival dedicated entirely to celebrating research across the humanities –
from archaeology, art history, history, classics, languages, philosophy,
literature and more. The festival aims to make the humanities accessible and
fun for all, and is run by the School of Advanced Study, University of London
in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British
Academy.
You can see the full programme online at www.beinghumanfestivial.org. For those of you who are on social media, the festival can be found @BeingHumanFest on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and the hashtag is #BeingHuman2020
